EMBERS retreat with Elena Byers & Steve Taylor

  • North Rd Wales, CF10 3ER United Kingdom (map)

Join us for an earthly weekend of community, ceremony & reflection deep in the Forest of Dean, circled by orchards and the winding Wye river. This is a seasonal retreat to celebrate the darker months - a weekend of fun deeply inspired by the natural world and it's ability to re-remind us how free & curious we innately are. Herbalism, movement, yoga, medicine song, wiiildly intricate foraged feasts are whipped up by Trewhitts and there's restorative massage too.

As we celebrate life through various wisdom traditions, expect to dance, sing, practice, learn and restore.

"May you awaken to the mystery of being here, and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence. "

John O Donohue

Embers days tend to move between creative yoga practice in the Ragmans shala, massage treatments, time exploring nature, ceremony, epic feasts, and fire circles inside and out. Expect the Ragmans hot tub to be bubbling away ready to ease aching muscles after hikes to the enchanting Cannop Ponds nearby, and if that's your sort of thing -  wild swimming opportunities are plentiful too. Take your time sifting through the pages of a new book or join us for a natural medicine workshop with our herbalist Maria to unlock the wisdom of the native Wye Valley plants.

Our mornings here open with tea, Vinyasa and meditation practice informed by non-dual Tantra philosophy. There's strength-building Asana and reflective chanting in equal measure. Evenings usually simmer with restorative somatics or sound healing, to leave you ready to enjoy either a countryside snooze, or some fireside dancing.

A 30 minute tailored massage treatment with Steve is yours to be enjoyed over the course of the weekend too; these are rooted in the traditions of Ayurveda and holistic massage and informed by over a decade's worth of his bodywork + physio studies. Helping you to unwind, restore muscle tone & re-balance your nervous system.

Collectively we share 3 delicious vegetarian meals each day in the beautiful open Ragman's kitchen - organic and locally sourced by our wild haired wonder - Chippy from Trewhitts - and stacked high with treats to fuel you for the day's activities. We're advocates of eating as big as you'd like.

Roll out of practice on Sunday morning and expect a herbalism workshop with Maria from Healing Weeds, guiding you in making your very own seasonal tincture, natural balm or medicinal tea to take home.

Home for this weekend is the magical Ragmans Farm. Our beloved playground full of winding streams, swelling rhubarb beds and sunrise mist. Hidden deep in the heart of the Forest of Dean in the Wye Valley, Ragmans is a 60 acre organic farm where permaculture and organic farming practices are the guiding principles to regenerate the land. Nestled in an area of outstanding beauty, a stones throw from the river Wye which we'll wind down to during our Saturday hike.
